I am a co-founder and co-CEO of a company that offers coaching and professional development services. We cater specifically to women and other groups of underrepresented talents so companies can advance and retain those employee populations.

We were primarily a word-of-mouth business and were looking to grow beyond that. We didn’t have anyone on our team handling marketing or advertising, and we hired S&G Content Marketing to serve as our external partner. We also needed to align our branding and create a great sales deck.

We started with a discovery phase that lasted a couple of weeks. S&G Content Marketing delivered a new brand identity, guidelines, and helped us figure out fonts and a color scheme. The team was also responsible for the language we wanted to use and what we wanted our brand presence to look like. S&G Content Marketing helped us determine the market we wanted to service and the messaging we used to attract that market.

We’ve had positive responses to the work they provided, especially the sales deck. Our sales team is very confident in presenting the deck S&G Content Marketing created, and feels that it speeds up their process with potential clients.

The team was very communicative, efficient, and quick to respond. We used ClickUp for project management and communicated via emails, phone calls, and Zoom.

The team was very open to feedback and made changes quickly. S&G Content Marketing did a great job of understanding our market and figuring out the demographic we were looking to target. S&G Content Marketing packaged our company and presented it to the world in a way that made us feel like they understood our vision. We really enjoyed working with the team we were assigned and thought they were excellent.

The biggest metric in this partnership is the amount of content we’ve been producing. So far, we’ve created about 13 long-form pieces of content, published 25 blogs, and rebranded over 65 blogs.

They’re great from a project management perspective, as they always keep us updated on the progress of our projects and respond quickly to make corrections. Moreover, they’re extremely collaborative and are always ready to lend a helping hand.

We’re impressed with their ability to understand new subjects to create large amounts of content and adaptability to our needs.

They’re a joy to work with, so I don’t have any constructive feedback.

I’d advise you to be as clear with your goals as possible. The team is accommodating, and they’ll adapt to what you want to achieve.

I’m the senior brand and communications manager for a full-service, digitally-driven moving company. We operate nationwide.

Primarily, we didn’t have organized PR efforts, so we were looking for an agency to help us get stories about us into the news. Additionally, we had a couple of sub-objectives. We also wanted to focus on recruitment to our workforce and raising brand awareness in general.

Initially, we did a brief discovery phase; we met with S&G Content Marketing and walked them through various aspects of our business. We reiterated the objective of the engagement and brainstormed story ideas that would potentially serve as PR efforts. We didn’t have specific news or updates to share, so we needed to get our name and our services out into the media in compelling, natural ways.

We signed the contract in April 2022. Unfortunately, we’ll have to end our engagement prematurely in November 2022 due to budgetary concerns.

We got the pack rats piece in the Houston Chronicle; it was a long, in-depth piece that was a combination of human interest and promotion of our business. It involved an interview with our CMO, and they even dispatched a photographer to a moving job we had in Houston, so there were 8–10 photos included n the piece. Overall, the effort was an old-fashioned journalist engagement pitch, and it was solid content for us.

Project management was excellent. They were clear in their communication and responsive. They kept us focused and were organized and timely. The team kept meetings and always delivered on time.

Their creative ideas were top-notch. Even though we had a limited scope, they were always available to provide advice and recommendations. A few times, we wrote press releases and asked them just to weigh in. They did it quickly and with no problems. We also had 1–2 communication crises where they acted swiftly. They crafted a statement within a matter of hours and guided us on media training.

It took them longer than expected to understand our business. We had a short discovery phase; ideally, it would’ve been longer and more in-depth. However, we were eager to get the show on the road and dive into the work.

Be clear about your objectives. Our mistake was going into the engagement with too many goals. We were trying to do too many things at once, so we sent them in multiple directions. Narrow down what you want to accomplish so you don’t end up spinning your wheels.

I’m the owner of a garden augers manufacturing company. We manufacture augers for professional landscaping. We’re a 34-year-old company in central Illinois.

We weren’t totally satisfied with our previous SEO company. Our website had issues that the firm wasn’t addressing.

Initially, S&G Content Marketing gave us a proposal and highlighted some key areas we were lacking on the backend. They’ve identified the issues and provided the needed information to a web developer to implement those changes and keep too many fingers off the backend, which can always cause problems.

We initially had a problem with our Amazon store, and a third-party Amazon company we worked with suggested S&G Content Marketing to look at the backend and identify some of the issues. They’d done that work, so we decided to reengage them.

We partnered with them in July 2022, but we’ve been working on other tasks since March 2021.

On the Amazon work, we saw an immediate uptick in traffic after implementing the changes. We’ve also seen an increase in engagement thanks to the blog posts, but we expect that it’ll start to show some headwind in the next few months due to the nature of SEO. Nonetheless, it’s gone exceptionally well so far; there’s been a much more robust program, which has been hugely helpful.

Project management has been outstanding. They stay on budget and are right on cue; everything’s spot on. Also, they’re very open to communication and suggestions. We have biweekly Zoom meetings, and they seem open to switching on a dime as needed. We use emails, and ClickUp is for daily management.

Their communication and teamwork are above average compared to other firms. Their openness is outstanding; they get right to the point and don’t tiptoe around issues. They just come out and tell us the problem and the plan to fix it.

As a business owner, I’d tell anyone to lower their prices.

Be very open-minded. If you’re looking for an honest opinion, let them do their diagnostics and be prepared for an open conversation. Don’t assume you know everything about your website; a fresh set of eyes is hugely beneficial.

I’m the director of brand and content marketing for Braavo. I’m responsible for all things marketing, and my focus areas are community development, content, and partnership.

Our funding suite is unique to the market, and education is a huge part of bringing awareness because many people mistake us for a traditional venture capital firm. Or they’re trying to understand our service of funding startups and growing companies. We hired S&G to help us with this education.

S&G provides us with content marketing focused on creating brand awareness. The team writes write long and short-form articles for us. We’ve repurposed some of the long-form articles into e-books and guides. They’ve helped us create an e-book that serves as a guide to growth, where people can read along, learn, and fill in the blanks. We send out a monthly newsletter, and S&G writes most of that content.

We regularly work with three teammates, though occasionally, a fourth person jumps into our regular meetings. Our regular team includes S&G’s co-founder, our account representative, and a writer.

I worked with them at a previous company for two years. Before that collaboration, I was never someone who had faith in agencies and always preferred to work in-house. However, S&G completely changed my mind; they were the best content agency I’d ever worked with. After I had that great experience at my last company, I decided to give them a go at my current company.

Since we started working with S&G, our newsletter subscribers have increased from around 3,200 to over 5,000, which is a 36% increase. I’ve also gotten great feedback about their work internally, and our company’s founders have been delighted. They were also apprehensive about content agencies initially, and it took some work to get them on board. Although they still had doubts during the learning period, they’ve now become fans of S&G, partly because the team is so good at taking feedback and direction.

They’re good at project management and communication. They have tools that bring visibility into the process; we use ClickUp for project management and Slack for communication. We also use Google Workspace for brainstorming. I can access the dashboard they’ve provided to look at what’s coming down the pipeline, and they ask me for feedback about how the process is working. I’ve given them feedback, and they’ve quickly gotten back to me and adjusted details within the dashboard, solving the issue.

S&G really does listen. Thinking of times when it didn’t work with other agencies, it was because they didn’t get the message. Meanwhile, S&G helps us get into this groove where I can be hands-off after the learning curve, which is such a blessing.

Whenever we’ve come up against a challenge like emergency deadlines or additional requests, they’ve always been able to pull through. We’ve never had an experience with them where there have been detrimental blocks, so I can’t think of anything they need to improve.

Be very transparent, give them as much information as possible, and treat S&G as part of your team, especially during the onboarding process. The clearer you are upfront, the better the chance you can come to an alignment faster and think like one brain. If you achieve that, you can move forward as a cohesive unit. In the end, it’s all about having a thorough onboarding process.
