I’m the director of content innovation at Universal Destinations & Experiences (UDX). We’re a global leader in creating immersive theme parks, resorts, and entertainment experiences that bring beloved stories and characters to life for guests around the world.

We needed help building out the UDX immersive experience content library leveraging the latest in AR technology.

Lucid Reality Labs has helped us bring to life AR and MR experiences for our parks nationwide. The team has pushed the boundaries of what’s possible and offered new solutions to stand out with the challenges UDX faces when connecting with consumers in a marketplace filled with noise. Lucid Reality Labs has also developed AR filters, such as Epic Portals and the Queen Vampire.

The team has also helped us with new emerging platform capability tests. Overall, we’ve seen more than 5 million UGC, which is outstanding. We’ve also seen strong improved customer engagement, as these AR experiences have helped fuel fandom communities and connect UDX with new fans. Additionally, we’ve seen a significant increase in revenue generated from retargeting, and we see room for growth.

1. Epic AR Portals

Epic AR Portals: Within its first month, Epic AR Portals generated 125,791 users reached and 124,985 pieces of user-generated content, driven entirely through organic engagement with no paid media support, demonstrating strong inherent shareability and audience interest.

Lucid demonstrated strong project management across these engagements, consistently delivering key components in alignment with project timelines and milestone expectations. Deliverables have been executed on schedule, enabling timely internal reviews, iteration cycles, and campaign readiness.

What stands out about Lucid Reality Labs is how naturally they bring together creative storytelling and technology. They don’t just build AR or AI experiences, they create fully integrated, character-driven interactions that feel cohesive and purposeful. The Vampire Queen experience is a great example, where conversational AI, voice, and animation all work together seamlessly to make the character feel responsive and alive.

We would have appreciated a bit more transparency from Lucid around how resources were being allocated when multiple priority projects were happening at the same time. Having clearer visibility into team bandwidth and potential trade-offs would have helped align expectations earlier. That said, Lucid has always been responsive, collaborative, and clear in their communication, and they worked closely with us to adjust timelines and deliverables when priorities shift. Strengthening that upfront visibility would help make an already strong partnership even more effective.

Our legacy headset was no longer being manufactured. Lucid Labs enabled us to quickly and easily move to a new manufacturer. Without their efforts we would not have been able to grow our business.

The scope included designing and developing an interactive, immersive VR training experience that meets specific learning objectives for tracheostomy education. Lucid Reality Labs was responsible for creating intuitive user flows and realistic clinical scenarios to ensure the experience felt natural, engaging, and effective for medical professionals.

Early evaluations demonstrated high user satisfaction and strong engagement, with participants praising the simulation’s realism, interactivity, and clarity of procedural guidance. The integrated analytics system captured performance metrics such as procedure time and accuracy, showing steady improvement across multiple sessions.

I’m the CEO of VIZQ. We’re developing an AI-driven speech therapist. Our solution helps children with autism, Down syndrome, and other developmental delays get access to speech therapy inside VR.

We hired them to custom-build our entire platform, including a HIPAA-compliant front- and backend dashboard. They also built the VR experience and coded the AI algorithm that handles our prompting generator.

Lucid Reality Labs built a custom software that we could deploy and operate independently. They implemented AI algorithms to manage the prompting and workflow of our software. The software would take a child with developmental learning delays or autism and take each step of an interaction. It would give them as much or as little help as they needed every step of the way to complete an activity.

I worked with many teammates from Lucid Reality Labs, including their marketing team, development team, CTO, CEO, UX/UI developers, and Unity developers. Willy and Stas were also part of the team.

I found them on Clutch. I scheduled a meeting, and their CEO took that initial meeting with me. We discussed the project and what we wanted to build. It was exciting for both of us. I shared a drafted blueprint of what we wanted to build, and they scoped it out and gave us a fair price. We used three other companies to gauge our choices and went with Lucid Reality Labs.

I spent around $110,000 on their services.

The project lasted from September–December 2024.

The product was visually incredible and sophisticated. It was a brand-new technology. We could interact with a child in real-time and collect live data within milliseconds in the backend dashboard. We used it with children, and they could display their skills in the real world after using the software.

Overall, they were great. They were highly communicative with us. Every time we had a need, they stepped in and took care of it immediately. They were a fantastic team to work with. It was a great experience throughout.
