I'm the business development director of LMcare, a company that provides specialist psychological care for adults, exclusively online through our own developed FIT (Frequent Intensive Therapy) trajectories.

We needed Apzumi to help us centralise our platforms. When we started our collaboration, our psychologists were working with seven different software. In addition we wanted to create a way to monitor the (mental) wellbeing and progress of our patients outside of the regular sessions which in turn gives our psychologist insights that they've never experienced before.

Apzumi has developed a completely new platform for our psychologists, patients, and back office. This platform is linked to several other software via APIs and such. In addition, we created a data-driven trendline to monitor the progress of our patients via various (subjective and objective) entries. This trendline has several purposes: a tool for our psychologists to get insight into the well-being of their patients on days without sessions, as well as a way for our patients to monitor their progress. Moreover, our entire HR is run via our platform, as well as most of our administration, invoicing and dunning and more. We've also integrated our custom made speech-to-text module for transcribing and generating report drafts. In short, all the company needs are now built into one system.

I have daily contact with my project manager from Apzumi. Who in turn has a team of professionals who take care of all our needs.

We started working with them in September 2024, and the engagement is ongoing.

We managed to migrate all our users to the new platform and received positive feedback. The platform has proven a success based on this. We migrated 80 psychologists and their combined 400 active clients without a single hiccup. The time spent on administrative tasks for my people has more than halved. Patients that were used to the old systems often complimented the new platform, calling it user-friendly, intuitive, and pretty (UI/UX). Monitoring tools (such as the trend line) have given our psychologists more insight into their patients' well-being than they have ever experienced before, while at the same time leaving them in charge of the treatment (it really works as a tool, not a replacement). Back office administrative tasks have also tremendously decreased. Moreover, our surveys indicate a patient satisfaction score of 8.9. As well as an attendance rate of >97%, due to the smart reminder functions.

Apzumi's project management is unbelievable. Not only do they deliver on time, but they also manage to understand complex thoughts and ideas and put them into context. Moreover, they've proven to be more than valuable sparring partners on mental health care specifics. We communicate via virtual meetings, emails, and messaging apps.

The deliverables included a cross-platform app (Web/iOS/Android) featuring a sophisticated telehealth engine with real-time vitals reporting. They developed a complex permissions system for various medical organizations, integrated Fitbit for automated data tracking, and used Redox to connect with US hospital databases (EHR). A major part of the work was optimizing video transmission for elderly patients with limited internet access to ensure uninterrupted care.

The most critical outcome was delivering a stable, board-ready MVP in exactly 3 months. The MVP started with features like patient status monitoring, patient and user management, and video calling, and following its successful launch, it has been continuously scaled and enhanced. The platform is already integrated with multiple medical facilities across the US, successfully handling real-time cardiac monitoring and emergency protocols for high-risk patients.

Management was exceptionally lean and efficient. We collaborated directly with the Apzumi team on a daily basis. This direct communication, combined with their use of AI-assisted development that we are proponents of, allowed them to deliver features at a great speed. They were proactive partners who, rather than just following tickets, suggested holistic improvements where they noticed good opportunities for them.

Their technical ownership and problem-solving skills are unparalleled. When we faced a hardware-specific camera bug, they didn't just find a workaround, but coordinated with Zoom's engineering team to fix the root cause globally. Also, their ability to act as a "technical powerhouse" with a small, AI-supported team provided us with immense value. They were treated as an integral part of our own team, showing deep care for the project's business success. Their expertise in compliance and security is impressive. Our platform requires complex access management, where users often hold hybrid roles - for example, acting as both client and provider simultaneously, with additional overarching company-wide permissions. Apzumi successfully designed a robust system that reconciles these conflicting roles, ensuring granular access control without compromising security. In addition to all of this, they showed more care for the product and the users than any other contracting team I've worked with. Every team member from Apzumi has been a joy to work with.

Concierge Care Advisors engaged Apzumi to design and build Senior Navigator, a config-driven SaaS platform that guides families through senior care planning decisions including assisted living, memory care, and in-home care placement. The engagement ran approximately six months and covered full-stack architecture, development, and AWS deployment. The contracted scope included: A multi-module Angular frontend with NGXS state management and PrimeNG components, delivering a guided care planning journey, a Care Funding Plan module with Financial Review section, and a Learning Center.

Project Management Apzumi's project management was organized and consistent throughout the engagement. The team ran regular status updates, maintained clear ticket hygiene in Jira, and kept us informed of progress across the development, QA, and staging environments. Malwina, our primary project manager, was responsive and proactive in surfacing blockers and coordinating across the frontend, backend, and QA disciplines.

Most Impressive or Unique What stood out most about Apzumi was the caliber of their engineering talent combined with a genuine willingness to build what we actually needed rather than defaulting to a template. When we brought them the config-driven architecture concept — which is unusual and adds significant upfront complexity — they engaged with it thoughtfully and executed it well rather than pushing back toward a more conventional approach.

Honestly, nothing significant comes to mind. They delivered what we asked for, the team was responsive, and the engagement closed on good terms. Any minor friction along the way was handled collaboratively as it came up.

Apzumi has been tasked with transforming SkinScreener into a Software Development Kit (SDK) for deployment on local devices by the Portuguese Ministry of Health, integrating our AI-Powered Assessment tool to enhance early skin cancer detection across Portugal. The project scope involved redeveloping the existing application designed for quick and user-friendly skin cancer risk assessments into a modular SDK for seamless integration and scalability. Apzumi refactored the core application, added new components, optimized architecture, and fixed existing bugs to enhance performance and stability. Mobile launchers were developed for SDK previews, and a React Native wrapper was created to enable cross-platform compatibility.

The project delivered several key measurable outcomes that highlight its success. The SDK successfully passed internal quality tests, ensuring high performance and reliability. A sample integration of the SDK was prepared, demonstrating its functionality and ease of implementation. Most importantly, a fully functional version of the SDK was delivered to the Portuguese Ministry of Health, marking a significant milestone in the project’s rollout. These achievements confirm the project’s progress and its readiness for real-world application.

Apzumi’s project management was highly responsive, proactive, and solution-oriented. Their team not only delivered all items on time but also actively contributed their own ideas, improvements, and refinements throughout the process. Given the short timeline, the project followed a streamlined management approach, bypassing some formal procedures to maximize efficiency. This flexible and results-driven approach ensured smooth collaboration and optimal delivery within the required timeframe.

What I found most impressive about Apzumi was their proactivity, speed of work, and the quality of the code they delivered. The team consisted of specialists who were able to provide valuable insights from a technical perspective, ensuring that every decision was well-informed and aligned with our goals. Their ability to quickly adapt and offer effective solutions was truly remarkable.

One area for improvement could be better synchronization between the Android and iOS development teams. While everything was delivered on time, the testing process couldn't be done simultaneously across platforms, which could have enhanced efficiency.
